Huththaහුත්ත
NSFWAs the most versatile and heavily used explicit curse word in the Sri Lankan vocabulary, this term's literal translation refers to female genitalia, making it the direct Sinhala equivalent to the English word "cunt." However, despite its highly vulgar origins, its everyday street usage operates much closer to the word "fuck." Although it is strictly NSFW and heavily frowned upon in polite society, public spaces, or formal settings, it acts as the ultimate aggressive intensifier and is thrown around constantly and casually among close groups of friends to add raw emotion to a conversation.
Because the word is so linguistically flexible, its meaning shifts based entirely on context, volume, and minor grammatical tweaks. Adding an "o" at the end (Huththo) turns it into a direct pronoun used to address someone, similar to "fucker" or "asshole," while the common phrase "mona hutthakda" translates perfectly to "what the fuck." Depending on how it is delivered, it can express pure rage, massive shock, mild annoyance, or simply act as casual emphasis in everyday banter.
Examples
Person A: "I accidentally left the concert tickets at home."
Person B (Utter Frustration): "මොන හුත්තක්ද බං (Mona hutthakda ban / What the fuck, man), we drove two hours to get here!"

Person B (Casual Emphasis among close friends): "මම එනවා හුත්තෝ, පොඩ්ඩක් හිටපන් (Mama enawa huththo, poddak hitapan / I am coming fucker, just wait a bit)."
